Iran Press/Iran news: Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh made the remarks while addressing the reporters Sunday on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the 13th International Exhibition of Plastics, Rubber, Machinery, and Equipment (Iran Plast 2019) in Tehran.
Asked to comment on the recent rumors regarding a claimed cyberattack on the country’s oil facilities in the last two days, Zanganeh said: “This news has been spread by liars. All this is fake news and we are well prepared.”
Referring to activities of the petrochemical industry under the sanctions, the Oil Minister said that this industry is at the front of the economic war, adding, “it has the most important role in returning the currencies to the country’s economic circle.”
NetBlocks, an organization that tracks internet outages, claimed in a tweet on early Saturday that “network data show intermittent disruptions to internet connectivity in Iran.
It alleged that “data are consistent with a cyber attack or unplanned technical incident on affected networks as opposed to a purposeful withdrawal or a shutdown incident.”
Despite some Western sources' claims, Iranian officials have dismissed any suggestion of cyber-attack on the county's oil and other critical infrastructure.
