Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister called on his Swedish counterpart to arrest the desecrator of the Quran in Sweden and put him on trial.

Iran PressIran news: An extremist named Selvan Momika, who insulted the Holy Quran in Stockholm on June 28, insulted the Holy Quran yesterday (Thursday) for the second time after obtaining permission from the Swedish police.

In response to the telephone call of his Swedish counterpart Tobias Billström on Friday, Iran's FM condemned the desecration of the religious sanctities and divine books anywhere in the world by anybody under any pretext.

Hossain Amir-Abdollahian stressed that Sweden must put an end to such duplicity-casting and violence-promoting move which follows deleterious consequences.

Amir-Abdollahian reminded Billström of the fact that the repetition of the desecration Quran happened just ten days after the UN Human Rights Council issued a resolution condemning the desecration of the religious sanctities.

The Swedish FM, for his part, said that the ministry issued an official statement to officially note that the desecration of Quran has nothing to do with the government's position.

Amir-Abdollahian said that a mere statement was not sufficient and that the person who committed the crime must be arrested, tried, and held accountable for his blasphemy; Otherwise, Sweden has to face firm responses from the Islamic countries.

He also recalled that the Swedish police issued permission to insult the world Muslims' beliefs and consciences under the pretext of observing freedom of expression.

Yet, Billström denied the fact telling Iran's FM that police never issued permission for anybody to insult Quran, and the individual mentioned abused the situation in Sweden.

The Swedish Court of Appeals showed the green light to the perpetrators of the crime. Two weeks after Sweden's appeals court overturned the police ban on anti-Quran demonstrations, the police issued a permit, and the organizer of the demonstration burned a copy of the Holy Quran, which resulted in worldwide protest and condemnation.
