Tehran(IP)- The Iranian foreign minister met the assistant and special envoy of the President of Azerbaijan in Tehran to discuss the Karabakh crisis and Baku-Yerevan disputes.

Iran PressIran news: The Azeri official Khalaf Khalafov and the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian exchanged views in the meeting.

Referring to his recent meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, the Iranian foreign minister voiced Iran's willingness to develop relations with Azerbaijan. 

Iranian top diplomat called for balancing the various aspects of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan in the future.

Referring to the restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty over the Karabakh region, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the necessity of starting a new chapter of regional cooperation for the establishment of peace and economic development in the Caucasus.

"We believe that from now on in this region the language of peace and security should replace the language of tension and conflict," stated the Iranian foreign minister. 

Khalafov, for his part, emphasized the recent positive developments in Iran-Azerbaijan relations. 

Regarding the recent developments in Nagorno-Karabakh, The Azeri diplomat ensured the provision of freedom, rights, and the necessities of life for the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh as the priority of Azerbaijan.
