Iran Press/ Iran news: The Director General of International Peace and Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran Asadollah Eshraq Jahormi announced that Washington should oppose strengthening the Biological Weapons.
Stressing Iran's approach toward chemical weapons, Jahromi underlined that Tehran rejects the exploitation of chemical weapons, and the country calls for the criminals using chemicals should be held accountable.
The announcement was uttered by the Iranian diplomat at the UN General Assembly that was held on Wednesday, October 18.
He emphasized the need for full, effective, and non-discriminatory implementation of chemical and biological weapons conventions.
The Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) effectively prohibits the development, production, acquisition, transfer, stockpiling, and use of biological and toxin weapons. It was the first multilateral disarmament treaty banning an entire category of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
Iran opposes the restrictive approach of the White House regarding radiological weapons, yet the entire cycle of chemical weapons should be restricted.
He regrated over the failure of the two recent chemical weapons convention revision conferences.
Elsewhere, the Iranian diplomat called on the international community to hold the Israeli regime accountable through its membership and the obligation to implement both conventions.
