Tehran (IP)—The new round of court hearings on the charges against 104 members of the People's Mojahedin Khalgh Organization, known as MKO, began on Tuesday, September 10, in Tehran.

Iran PressIran news: 104 members of the MKO terrorist outfit will be tried in the Tehran courthouse, and this court has asked the fugitive members of this group to present their lawyers to this court.

The new round was held at the 11th branch of the criminal court of Tehran province on Tuesday in a case that tries 104 natural persons as well as one legal entity in absentia.

Judge Dehqani, who presided over the session, said judicial notices have already been sent out to all defendants of the case under the Islamic penal code of Iran, stressing that the defendants have neither hired a lawyer nor filed a defense with the court.

Judge Dehqani added: "The inherent duty of the United Nations and its Secretary General is to deal with the perpetrators of criminal acts and to accompany the pioneering governments in the fight against terrorism."

He addressed the Secretary General of the United Nations, stating: "Today in Tehran, an indictment was sent to one of our criminal branches, and 104 accused of terrorist charges, which are considered terrorist acts according to all laws, are considered crimes against humanity, are being investigated, crimes such as hijacking planes, burning children, killing women." 

Judge Dehqani emphasized: "The people of Iran expect that the United Nations, the Secretary-General, its affiliated members, and its reporters will not be accused of such acts. They also hope that the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations Secretary-General will cooperate with nations and governments that are victims of terrorism to achieve world peace and strive for the fair trial of the accused."

Judge Dehghani said: "The Iranian nation is one of the biggest victims of terrorism in the world, and what was brought to this court by the Tehran Prosecutor's Office is about the accusations, one of which requires separate rules and legal procedures for the accused terrorists."

Within two years, from 1979 to 1981, elements of this terrorist outfit assassinated many officials, revolutionary forces, and ordinary people and claimed responsibility for all these assassinations.

This trial was held in the 11th branch of the criminal court in the province of Tehran, presided over by Judge Dehghani at the Imam Khomeini judicial complex. 219
