Tehran (IP) - An Iranian woman was appointed as the head coach of the Iraqi women's volleyball team.

Iraq's Volleyball Federation appointed Mitra Shaban-Nejad as the head coach of the Iraqi women's volleyball team to coach the volleyballers in the women's Asian championship competitions. 

Shaban-Nejad also coached Iran's volleyball team in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers. 

She also led the Iranian junior volleyballers in the 14th Asian Under-18 Girls Championship, where they stood 7th in Asia.

Iran-Iraq relations are shoring up in different areas, with the neighbor-oriented approach in Iran's foreign policy going forward. 

The Islamic Republic of Iran opened its international branch of the Tehran University of Medical Science in Karbala, central Iraq, on Wednesday.
