Iran Press/ Middle East: Iranian Ambassador to Yemen Hassan Irloo met with the Minister of Higher Education of the National Salvation Government (NSG) on Sunday to discuss the possibility of resuming and promoting cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education and scientific research and arranging scholarships announced by the Islamic Republic of Iran through the Yemeni ministry in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses.
The Yemeni minister also said that the country's higher education sector has suffered extensive damage since the Saudi coalition's aggression in 2015 and that 11 public universities and 49 private universities with 150,000 students are suffering.
The Yemeni minister also appreciated the positions of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the government, and the people of Iran in supporting the Yemeni people, and welcomed Iran's investment in the field of higher education in Yemen, and announced the readiness of the Yemeni national salvation government to provide appropriate conditions.
With the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, Saudi Arabia has launched a military invasion of Yemen since March 2015 and has laid land, sea, and air siege to the country.
The warmongering by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has so far killed more than 16,000 Yemenis, injured tens of thousands, and displaced millions of people.
