Iran Press/Iran news: Expressing Iran’s deepest regret over the Ukrainian plane incident near Tehran, which led to the death of 176 passengers and crew on board, Rouhani added, “Fruitful investigations have been carried out to probe into the reasons of the mishap and the complementary surveys are underway.”
The President said that he had issued the necessary instructions to continue the necessary technical and legal investigations, saying, "Iran welcomes any international cooperation within the framework of international law to clarify this incident and will provide all consular facilities for this purpose. And we are ready for the foreign ministers of Iran and Canada to continue their talks."
Elsewhere in his remarks, the President said that “The security of the sensitive Middle East has reached a dangerous level by the US measures.”
"Iran has proposed the Hormuz Pease Endeavor (HOPE) to help the region retain its peace and security through collective efforts," he added.
Canada’s Prime Minister for his part asked to make every effort to clarify all the reasons behind the incident
Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a tweet that "My colleagues in the foreign ministry—and in embassies, missions and consulates worldwide—share the nation’s grief in the aftermath of the tragedy and stand ready to offer any needed assistance to families of the victims."
The Boeing 737-800 plane belonging to Ukraine International Airlines crashed near Tehran just minutes after the plane had taken-off from Imam Khomeini International Airport on Wednesday morning. All the 167 passengers and 9 crew members on board the plane were killed in this tragic incident.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran said in a statement on Saturday that the Ukrainian passenger plane which crashed was targeted unintentionally in a tragic accident due to human error.
