Caracas (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister, who is in Caracas, met with the Venezuelan President on Friday morning to talk about bilateral cooperation and boosting ties.

Iran PressAmerica: The relations between Iran and Venezuela have a history of more than a hundred years, but in the 1960s, it developed with cooperation in the field of oil, and after the victory of Iran's Islamic Revolution in 1979, Venezuela was one of the first countries to recognize the new Iranian government.

Currently, both countries are under the unilateral sanctions of the United States and in issues such as defending multilateralism, the need to confront the US' illegal and unilateral actions, Iran's  indisputable right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and the recognition of rights  of the Palestinian people have a common vision.

Amir-Abdollahian and the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, discussed relations and development of bilateral cooperation and international issues in this meeting.

Iran urges expediting cooperation with Venezuela in oil industry

Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs called for removing obstacles and speeding up the process of cooperation between Iran and Venezuela in the field of oil industry.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the development and strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, especially the implementation of previous Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) in the field of oil industry, during a meeting with Tareck El Aissami, the economic vice president and Venezuela's oil minister, in Caracas on Friday.

Amir-Abdollahian also recalled the visit of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to Tehran and described the visit as a turning point in the relations between the two countries.

Venezuela's Minister of Oil referred to Iran's many experiences in the field of energy and technology, expressing his desire to transfer these experiences to Venezuela and closer cooperation in the field of oil, and considered cooperation in this field to enhance the position of the two countries in the world.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran and the Minister of Oil of Venezuela also introduced the strategic document signed during Maduro's visit to Tehran as a roadmap for the relations between the two countries and emphasized speeding up the implementation of past understandings and taking opportunities.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Venezuela's capital Caracas on Friday and was welcomed by the Minister of Transport and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country.
