Iran Press/ Iran News: The Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran for Political Affairs stated on Thursday night that the process of releasing about 6 billion dollars of Iranian assets has begun, along with the release of several Iranian detainees.
Five American prisoners, convicted of espionage and sabotage, will be exchanged with the Iranian detained in the US because of neutralizing the White House sanctions on Iran.
Issuing a statement, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "The process of releasing several billion dollars of assets of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which had been illegally seized in South Korea by the US for several years, has begun, with Iran having received the necessary guarantee for the US's commitment to its obligations in this regard."
Iran's financial resources have been illegally blocked or made it difficult for the country to use them due to foreign banks' concern about the US' punishment.
In addition to the release of the financial resources blocked illegally, protecting the rights of Iranians abroad is one of the inherent duties of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the statement noted elsewhere, adding: "In this framework, the release of a number of innocent Iranian prisoners who have been illegally imprisoned in the US in the past years under false accusations of circumventing the US cruel sanctions, has been seriously pursued."
A number of prisoners illegally detained by the United States will be released soon.
The prisoners the US is seeking their release are still in Iran.
