Iran Press/ Iran news: During the meeting with the Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, Mohammad Mokhber emphasized: "The approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran in these years has been to respect the territorial integrity of Syria and we always believe that the fight against terrorism should not harm the territorial integrity of the country."
Mokhber considered upgrading the level of economic cooperation and trade relations between Tehran and Damascus as one of the severe strategies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and emphasized the necessity of removing the obstacles facing the private sector and economic activists of the two countries and creating the necessary platforms for the expansion of economic relations between the two sides.
The first vice president stated: "The government of the Islamic Republic is determined to expand its relations with Syria in all dimensions, and if the necessary foundations are provided by Damascus, we will witness a serious development in the all-round development of bilateral relations."
He continued: "Unfortunately, despite the cordial relations between the two countries and the appropriate level of political relations between them, the economic relations between Tehran and Damascus have not been improved by the political relations."
Accordingly, developing banking cooperation and facilitating financial exchanges is essential for realizing joint investments and the two countries' economic cooperation.
In the meeting, Faisal Mekdad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran had supported Syria in all dimensions of the war against terrorism.
"If it were not for the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Syria, the situation of the region and Syria today would be completely different," stated he.
Referring to the conspiracies of the United States and the colonial regime in imposing economic sanctions against the people of Iran and Syria, he added: "What happened in Iran and Syria is economic terrorism, and a country that carries out such cruel and unilateral actions against nations is a war criminal and is against humanity."
Emphasizing that his country is confident that with the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, they will overcome the American occupation in Syria, he said: "We will never forget the help of Iran, and we will try to solve the challenges and to remove obstacles in the way of developing Tehran-Damascus relations."
