Iran has urged an urgent meeting of the heads of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to deal with the crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon and Palestine.

Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Legal and International Affairs, on Friday local time at the annual meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation emphasized the importance of the unity and solidarity of Islamic countries in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people.

Referring to the challenges facing the Islamic world, he said: "The Islamic world is at a critical juncture and is facing a range of important challenges, especially the Palestinian issue, which remains our main priority."

Gharibabadi emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the founding members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, has always supported the efforts of the Islamic Ummah to deal with the main challenges and pay special attention to the Palestinian issue.

He said: "Iran once again declares its unconditional support for the cause of Palestine and the realization of the indisputable rights of the Palestinian people through the formation of an independent Palestinian state in all occupied territories with Quds as the capital and its full membership in the United Nations."

The top diplomat reiterated the proposal of the Islamic Republic of Iran that all the Palestinian people, both those who live in their homeland and those who are far from their homeland, should decide on their future through a referendum.

Gharibabadi expressed hope that through this mechanism, a lasting peace will be achieved in which Muslims, Christians and Jews live together in peace and tranquility.

Gharibabadi pointed out that the illegal and illegitimate the Zionist regime is responsible for terrorizing and slaughtering innocent people, and said: "The terrorist actions of this regime are not limited to Palestine and Lebanon. This regime recently carried out a terrorist attack on Iran's diplomatic facilities and also martyred the leader of Hamas in Iran in a terrorist act. This regime is a threat to regional and international peace and security, and its brutality and crimes must be stopped."

In the end, according to the importance and necessity of dealing with the aggression of the Zionist regime in Lebanon and also the special conditions of the people in Gaza, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran proposed on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran that an extraordinary meeting of the heads of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation be held as soon as possible.
