Tehran (IP)—The Mass Production Platform of National Train kicked off in Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Company in a ceremony attended by Iranian officials including Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy and Tehran's Mayor.

Iran Press/Iran news: The unveiling ceremony of the mass production line of the National Metro Train kicked off at the Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Company.

Earlier this year the first model of a complete domestically built Metro Train passed its final tests for passenger services after detailed evaluations by engineers, relevant experts, and corrective advice from train drivers for best performance before the start of the mass production platform.

Attending the event, Hossein Afshin, the Vice-President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy said: The production of the national train has been pursued in the country for more than a decade. I believe that megaprojects should be defined for the growth of domestic companies, and one of the most important megaprojects is the national train project."

Afshin said: A $30 million budget was dedicated to this project by the government and Tehran Municipality also defined 1,000 Billion Toman.

Iran's vice president said: By the end of this year, Two 7-car train sets will enter the Tehran transportation fleet, currently, the construction of the first set has been completed and a 5,000-kilometer test drive has been passed.

Afshin stated: "The second national train project has begun and a 5-car domestic train will be built for the provinces of Isfahan, Tabriz, and Mashhad."

He stated: "This 5-car train has been assigned to MAPNA Company as a first-time construction project, and the risks of this project have been accepted by the Scientific Vice-Presidency department."
