Iran unveiled its first comprehensive atlas of handicrafts on Monday, marking the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS) and Father’s Day.

Iran Press/Iran news:  The launch, held at the National Cartographic Center, saw Culture Minister Seyyed Reza Salahi-Amiri emphasizing the role of cultural heritage in fostering national development and bridging societal divides.

“This atlas is a step toward preserving our historical identity,” Salahi-Amiri said, calling for similar initiatives in cultural heritage and tourism. “Iran has over one million historical sites, yet only 40,000 are officially registered. A comprehensive framework is vital to better preserve and promote our heritage.”

The minister highlighted the need for ethical governance inspired by the teachings of Imam Ali, asserting that issues like inflation and poverty stem from a departure from such principles. “True development is rooted in humanity and ethics, not material resources. Oil is not our future; human capital and moral values are,” he said.

Salahi-Amiri also called for the creation of an atlas for hospitality services to aid more strategic planning in tourism. He noted that connecting younger generations to Iran’s rich historical identity could foster unity and national pride.
