Iran Press/ Commentary: In a telephone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed the importance of Tehran-Ankara economic and trade relations, noting that the development of cooperation would soon enter a new stage withholding a joint summit in Tehran.
The President of Turkey underlined the importance of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of economy and security, and said: "Now the idea of joint cooperation has prevailed among the countries of the region and recent trips and consultations show its success."
While emphasizing holding cooperation meetings between Tehran and Ankara, he added that in his future visit to Tehran, the relations between the two countries would enter a new chapter of development.

Iran and Turkey are considered influential countries due to geopolitical issues, commonalities and historical, cultural ties, demographic structures, and natural resources. The deepening of relations between the two countries is essential in creating stability and guaranteeing regional security.
From the perspective of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where its neighbors and Islamic countries are at the forefront of its foreign policy priorities, many of the current problems in the region, including terrorism, are due to trans-regional interventions and the presence of foreigners.
Accordingly, in recent months, Iranian and Turkish officials have stepped up consultations on regional and international developments, emphasizing the need for stability, security and calm in the West Asian region, and paying attention to neighborhood policy and increasing trade between the two countries.
Earlier in the day, Erdogan met with the President of Iran on the sidelines of the ECO Summit in Ashgabat, stating that his country considers it necessary to develop and strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and said that "We can make a surge in the level of relations between the two countries, especially in the economic sectors."

A look at Iran-Turkey relations shows that despite political differences and regional rivalries, the two neighboring countries, with about 500 kilometers of common border, have always considered it necessary to maintain friendly relations and expand economic ties; Iran-Turkey trade capacity is about $ 30 billion, which has reached about $ 9 billion in recent years due to the coronavirus outbreak and illegal US sanctions against Iran.
It is in the interests of Iran and Turkey to develop regional and bilateral cooperation, which can be realized as much as possible with the finalization of the document on long-term collaboration between the two countries; the officials of the two countries will probably sign this document during the upcoming visit of the President of Turkey to Tehran.
There are various capacities in the industry, agriculture, services and tourism, oil, gas, and petrochemicals in the two countries, which can be considered in compiling this document.
Barsam Mohammadi, an expert on regional issues, said: "The document on long-term cooperation between Iran and Turkey will be effective in creating new opportunities and capacities and mutual understanding of national and regional interests through the coordination of macro strategies in relations between the two countries."
