Tehran (IP) – Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iraq's Ambassador due to the country's use of a fake name for the Persian Gulf.

Iran PressIran News: Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said: "We summoned the Iraq ambassador because of the Iraqi authorities' use of a fake name for the Persian Gulf and reflected the sensitiveness of the great Iranian nation over the application of the precise term 'Persian Gulf' to the Iraqi side."

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Wednesday that after the official reaction of Iran to the issue, Iraqi Prime Minister Shia al-Soudani corrected the controversial comment newly published in the virtual space.

Although Iran had brotherly ties with Iraq, it explicitly showed its protest to the Iraqi authorities and summoned the Iraqi ambassador to convey the protest to the Iraqi side.
