Tehran(IP)- The spokesperson of the Minister of Foreign Affairs said: In continuation of the desecration of the Holy Quran in Denmark, today (Monday) the Danish Ambassador in Tehran was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Director General of Western Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Iran PressIran News: According to Nasser Kanani, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Danish ambassador has explained the actions of the country's government to prevent the repetition of this process.

Kanaani also said that Tehran has once again called on the Danish government to act on this matter. 

Copies of the Holy Quran have been burned at several demonstrations in Sweden and Denmark this summer, causing outrage among Muslims and prompting protesters to storm and vandalize the Swedish embassy in Baghdad.

Denmark and Sweden have said they deplore the burning of the Holy Quran but cannot prevent it under rules protecting free speech.

Earlier, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran warned: "In Denmark, the insult to the Holy Quran continues while the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, on behalf of 57 Muslim countries, Tehran has asked Denmark to take immediate action to end this open insult to Muslims around the world."
