Vienna (IP) - Iran's Minister of Oil says the Islamic Republic has become self-sufficient in the development of oil and gas fields both in the sea and on land.

Iran PressEurope: Javad Owji told IranPress correspondent on the sidelines of the OPEC international seminar in Vienna that the whole process of drilling wells, both horizontally and vertically, in the sea and land, is carried out by domestic companies.

Owji said: "Fortunately, the manufacturers flourished in Iran during the sanction era, fully meeting what was needed for the development of the country's oil and gas industry."

He further said that Iran got self-sufficient in the establishment of petro-refineries and petrochemicals complexes, and even gas refineries, noting that Iran stands in the world's first place in terms of total oil and gas reserves.

Iran is capable of producing 1 billion cubic meters per day, which will have increased to 1.250 billion cubic meters per day by 2028, the Iranian oil minister said, noting that the country holds second place in the world in terms of gas reserves.
