IP - According to the Deputy Secretary of Free Zone Supreme Council, Tehran(IP) - Iran seeks to attract investment at the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) 2023.

Iran PressAsia: Ahmad Jamali stated that countries worldwide host potential investors and participate in various investment events to showcase their economic and investment capacities.

The CIFIT is considered one of the largest investment exhibitions globally, marking its 23rd edition this year. However, China's goal in organizing the exhibition is to attract investment and identify suitable investment opportunities worldwide.

SHADA, cited as Ahmad Jamali, highlighted that this strategy is expected to benefit Iran in attracting investment for its 850 projects. Jamali emphasized that China is among the top three countries in foreign investment, making participation in the fair a unique opportunity for Iran to invite Chinese investors.

The 23rd CIFIT will feature the presence of all provinces, municipalities, and free and special economic zones (FEZs and SEZs) of China, along with over 100 countries and 5,000 companies. This event provides a valuable opportunity for increased interactions and knowledge sharing with other nations to attract investments.

The FTZ council's deputy secretary for economic affairs has referred to CIFIT as an exceptional opportunity to introduce investment packages and attract investors. He further stated that a delegation, led by the advisor to the president and the secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones, is participating in the event with the support of various agencies and ministries, including the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Deputy Head also highlighted the presence of seven free zones - Arvand, Kish, Qeshm, Anzali, Chabahar, Aras, and Mako - at the fair. He mentioned that in coordination with Iranian diplomatic missions in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, as well as Chinese authorities such as the Ministry of Commerce, CIFIT committee, and Xiamen officials, representatives from Iran will meet with Chinese investors and senior officials from participating countries. They will also visit free zones in Xiamen, Beijing, and Shanghai.

"We have a meeting planned to showcase investment opportunities in free and special economic zones at the exhibition," he said. Additionally, negotiating with Chinese Ministry of Commerce officials regarding a cooperation agreement between Iran's FEZs (Free Economic Zones) and SEZs (Special Economic Zones) is another important objective for this trip.

Lastly, Jamali emphasized that side meetings during this event can provide valuable insights into the latest scientific advancements in direct investment, digital economy, and sustainable development.

The CIFIT is an annual event held from September 8 to 11 in Xiamen, China. Despite the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Iran has consistently participated in this exhibition. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance's head of the foreign investment promotion and support group mentioned that through continuous negotiations with the exhibition's executive committee, they secured a 200-meter space in the main hall for Iran's pavilion. This participation was made possible due to recommendations from Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Investment Organization.
