Iran Press/ Iran: Iran's first vice president, Eshagh Jahangiri, speaking at the 19th award ceremony for top Iranian researchers and scientists held on Sunday in Tehran, said: "The way to solve all our economic, social and international problems is by implementing the policies of a resistive economy, and a knowledge-based economy, and by paying attention to the latest cutting-edge technologies and making use of applied research."
Iran's first vice president added: "Our current economic situation requires us to explore new opportunities, capabilities and potential to develop our country further."
Commenting on US sanctions Jahangiri said: "America's unfair sanctions have targeted sections of our economy, to put us in a difficult situation". Obviously, the Americans were hoping for a complete collapse of Iran's economy, plunging our people in serious economic difficulties, hoping the people would protest and rise up against the government."

Stressing that knowledge-based economy insulates the country against shocks, he added that "If we are looking for an economy which reduces our dependence on oil revenues, I would suggest a resistive economy".
Expressing the necessity of Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, and also Vice-President for Science and Technology supporting knowledge-based firms, Jahangiri said: "Currently the value of exports by knowledge-based firms stands at 400 million dollars and by planning and supporting these firms, we can increase this figure to over 100 billion dollars, and this is certainly feasible".
