Tehran (IP) - Iranian minister of roads and urban development says the new economic and development agreements reached during his visit to Syria will revive many missed opportunities.

Iran PressMiddle East: Rostam Ghasemi wrote in his tweet that the economic and development agreements reached with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during his visit to the Middle Easter country will revive many missed opportunities for economic and development activists.

The Iranian Minister, who chairs the Syrian-Iranian Joint Economic Committee, headed a high-level economic and political delegation on Wednesday for a three-day visit to the Syrian capital, Damascus, where he was welcomed at the airport by Syria’s Economy and Trade Minister Mohammad Samer al-Khalil and Mahdi Sobhani Iran's ambassador to Syria.

"The end of the war in Syria is the beginning of a new era of economic relations between the two countries, especially since Iran and Syria have been together during the years of the war on international terrorism," Ghasemi told reporters upon arrival at Damascus airport.

He emphasized that this round of talks will be in various fields, including industry, construction, and infrastructure facilities.

In addition to meeting with the Syrian president, Rostam Ghasemi met with a number of senior Syrian officials, including Prime Minister Hussein Arnous and Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad. He will also meet with the Central Bank Governor Issam Hazima, the Syrian Minister of Economy, Transport, Labor and Housing.
