Iran Press/ Iran news: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an international intergovernmental organization that was established on June 15, 2001, in Shanghai by Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The Islamic Republic of Iran officially became a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization at its 21st meeting.
The organization currently consists of 9 members including China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Afghanistan, Mongolia, and Belarus are the supervising members of this organization.
The meeting of the national coordinators of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held with the presence of the national coordinator of Iran from August 21 to 24 in Almaty, Kazakhstan (as the rotating chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization).
The agenda of the meeting of the national coordinators of the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization included a wide range of topics in various areas of cooperation between the member countries of the organization and the proposals of the members.
Topics such as the meeting of the prime ministers of the member countries, coordination of anti-terrorist activities, areas of upgrading and modernization of the organization, new technologies, innovation and innovators, review of the organization's tourism annual plans, the economic strategy of the organization, energy, environment and transportation cooperation were discussed in the meeting as well.
