Iran Press/ Iran news: Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi on Tuesday to discuss mutual interest issues.
Ardakanian also told reporters in Baghdad that Tehran would host a Joint High Commission for Economic and Trade Cooperation in the coming weeks after a six-year standstill.
The Iranian Minister of Energy added: A specialized delegation from the Iraqi government will participate in the summit. The Iranian government and private sector will hold constructive consultations to develop bilateral relations with the Iraqi side.
The Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Baghdad this morning at the head of a delegation and was welcomed by his Iraqi counterpart.
The Iranian delegation had previously met with the Iraqi Minister of Commerce Dr Alaa Ahmed Al-Jubouri in Baghdad to discuss bilateral relations and economic and trade co-operation.
The Iranian delegation also discussed the strengthening and expansion of Iran-Iraq interactions and the two countries' joint commission.
Iraq's debts to Iran was another topic of discussion between the two officials.
After that, Iran's the Minister met with the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq Mustafa Ghalib Makhif and discussed bilateral relations and Iraqi payment debts to Iran in connection with oil and gas imported from Iran.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral financial sector and strengthening Iran-Iraq interactions with the two neighbours' common resources.
