Tehran (IP) - Iran's Defense Minister says the ministry follows closely with knowledge-based companies to build homemade helicopters.

Iran PressIran news: On the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, July 19, Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Ashtiani, in an interview, told Iran Press that the Ministry of Defense seeks to produce or upgrade new weapons.

General Ashtiani said that the Ministry of Defense is in close contact with many knowledge-based companies in various areas, including navigation, drones and helicopters, and ground combat to support the armed forces.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has transcended the deterrence point in its defense doctrine and follows up its mission at the regional and international levels. 

The defense minister pointed to the US' claim of sending more fighters and destroyers to the Strait of Hormuz and noted: "The US follows its own policy, yet the Islamic Republic has reached a point of power and authority where nobody can threaten it."
