The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, emphasized Iran's role as the gateway to Eurasia and the Caucasus, while recognizing Pakistan as the gateway to South and Southeast Asia.

Iran PressAsia:  Speaking at the International Conference on Regional Trade and Connectivity held at the National Defence University in Islamabad on Thursday, Amiri Moghadam underscored the deep-rooted cooperation between Iran and Pakistan. He noted that this partnership is grounded in shared geography, cultural ties, and neighborhood bonds.

"Iran and Pakistan possess unparalleled potential and opportunities that make them complementary to each other in meeting economic and trade needs," said the ambassador.

Highlighting the strategic position of both nations in connecting Asia and Europe, Amiri Moghadam stressed the importance of developing transport infrastructure and enhancing bilateral communication. He also issued a warning about attempts by rival nations to destabilize and delay regional development projects, aiming to hinder sustainable development and connectivity goals.

On the critical role of energy in regional cooperation, the ambassador remarked, "Any development of transportation corridors and connectivity projects in the region requires reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy resources." He reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to address Pakistan's energy needs, pointing to Iran’s status as the holder of the world’s second-largest natural gas reserves and its capacity to produce 80,000 megawatts of electricity.
