The Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission expressed satisfaction with a 12.8% growth in trade between the five member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Islamic Republic of Iran during the first 10 months of 2024.

Iran PressIran news:  During the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Union summit in St. Petersburg, Seyyed Mohammad Ehtabak, Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade, met with the Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The discussions emphasized the growing economic ties and strategic cooperation between Iran and the union.

As part of the summit, Ehtabak also held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting focused on enhancing economic, trade, and industrial collaboration between the two nations, both bilaterally and within the EAEU framework.

On Thursday evening, the EAEU leaders formally approved Iran's observer membership in the union during the summit held in St. Petersburg. This milestone marks a significant step in deepening Iran's engagement with the union.

In alignment with this development, Iran’s Parliament recently ratified the Free Trade Agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union, further solidifying Tehran’s commitment to expanding economic ties with member states.

The Eurasian Economic Union, established in 2014, comprises five member states: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia. Over the past decade, the union has played a pivotal role in fostering regional economic integration and enhancing trade across member countries.
