Iran Press/ Europe: In a meeting held in Moscow on Friday with Sergei Lovich Levin, the two sides discussed ways to expand trade in agricultural products and upgrade transport infrastructure for the exchange and transit of goods.
The Iranian diplomat Kazem Jalali pointed to the increase in Iran's exports to Russia in 2020 and noted: "This step can be considered a good start to increase the volume of trade exchanges, which is on the agenda of the leaders of the two countries."
Jalali stated that Iran and Russia had very high capacities to expand cooperation in the field of agricultural products and Iranian companies were ready to participate in the cultivation of greenhouse crops as well as cereals in Russia.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the improvement of transport infrastructure for the exchange and transit of goods. Investing and expanding the shipping fleet and expanding rail transportation and increasing the use of refrigerated containers that transport fruits and vegetables from Iran to Russia and use them on the way back for the transit of goods to the markets that Russia recently gained in the Persian Gulf.
Despite the development of extensive political relations between Iran and Russia, trade between the two countries has not developed much. Utilizing the existing capacities in the markets of the two countries can lead to the expansion of trade between Tehran and Moscow.
