Moscow (IP) - The Iran-Russia cooperation agreement in the field of information security was signed on Tuesday by the Iranian Foreign Minister and his Russian counterpart.

Iran PressEurope: The cooperation agreement was signed by the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov during Zarif's visit to Moscow.

The signing of this agreement will be an important turning point in the field of cooperation between the two countries in cybersecurity.

One of the benefits of this agreement is the coordination and cooperation of the parties in regional and international forums to ensure national and international information security.

In the UN Information Security Group, Iran and Russia have common positions and close cooperation.

This Agreement is a reference to the Treaty on the Basis of Reciprocal Relations and the Principles of Cooperation between the Governments of the Parties of 12 March 2001, with a view to strengthening and expanding regional and international cooperation.

Specific areas of cooperation between the two countries under this agreement include strengthening information security, combating crimes committed using information and communication technology, technical and technological assistance, international cooperation including identifying, coordinating, and carrying out the necessary cooperation in regional and international communities to ensure national and international security.

The provisions of this agreement cover areas for countering threats and exchanging information and cooperating in the field of law enforcement with the aim of pursuing, detecting, combating, investigating, and prosecuting crimes using information and communication technology for terrorist purposes and responding to computer incidents.
