Iran Press/ Europe: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stated on Tuesday in a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart: "I am happy to be in Moscow for the fourth time after the pandemic and I had a good conversation with my colleague and old friend (Sergey) Lavrov. We raised various issues."
"Sputnik vaccine was approved in Iran and we hope to be able to buy and produce the vaccine in the near future," he said.
"In the field of bilateral relations, today we talked about strengthening bilateral relations in the field of energy and transportation, as well as in the nuclear field. We also talked about the Caspian Sea and cooperation in this area," FM Zarif said.
Zarif added: "On regional issues, I congratulate Mr. Putin and Russia, who were able to end this crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, and today we can be on the verge of entering a new phase which contributes to the economic development of the whole region. The Nagorno-Karabakh crisis was a common concern of Tehran and Moscow, which has now become an opportunity for peace and friendship in the region."
Mohammad Javad Zarif noted: "Regarding Syria, the views of Iran and Russia are quite similar and we need to move forward with the cooperation of all parties. It is necessary to pay attention to the humanitarian situation in Syria. We had a good conversation about Afghanistan, especially since the Taliban delegation is in Iran."
"We also had a good conversation about the Persian Gulf, and we appreciate Russia's efforts in this area. We hope that the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf will respond positively to talk to us."
Regarding Yemen, FM Zarif said: "As for Yemen, we hope that with international cooperation, this humanitarian problem will end and we will be able to see a ceasefire."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Moscow on Tuesday as part of his regional tour.
The top Iranian diplomat is heading a delegation, to visit the Azerbaijan Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Georgia, and the Republic of Turkey. Zarif was in Azerbaijan on Monday and arrived in Moscow today.
Zarif will also travel to Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey as part of his regional tour after he visits Moscow.
