Iran Press/ Iran news: The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghai Hamaneh emphasized that President Macron’s independent and constructive approach towards international peace and stability should be prioritized. He asserted that Iran’s missile capabilities are part of its defensive policy, aimed at exercising its inherent right to self-defense against any aggression, which is essential to safeguarding the nation’s security and ensuring regional peace and stability.
Esmaeil Baghai also criticized Macron’s repeated and baseless concerns about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, especially coming from a country that itself possesses a vast arsenal of weapons of mass destruction. He termed such remarks as hypocritical and unacceptable.
The spokesperson reminded that for over two decades, Iran has shown goodwill in addressing alleged concerns over its peaceful nuclear activities, despite the destructive role played by European parties in this matter. He specifically pointed to France—one of the three European countries involved in the JCPOA—and urged it to be held accountable for failing to uphold its promises and for its confrontational stance against Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors.
Furthermore, Baghaei noted France’s failure to take serious action against the Israeli occupation and apartheid, and its reluctance to halt the genocide of Palestinians. He argued that President Macron’s deflecting statements cannot change the fact that the main source of insecurity and instability in the Middle East is the ongoing occupation supported by the U.S. and some other Western nations for the past eight decades.
In conclusion, Baghai advised French officials to adopt an independent and constructive approach towards global peace and stability, urging them to avoid biased positions that merely validate occupation, genocide, impunity, and racism.
