Tehran (IP)- In a special ceremony, Iran registered the 86th flotilla to the Antarctic on its National Calendar on May.16, 2024.

Iran PressIran news: In a remarkable display of Iran's naval prowess, the Iranian Navy's 86th flotilla, consisting of the indigenously manufactured Dena destroyer and Makran forward base ship, received a triumphant welcome after navigating an impressive 63,000 kilometers of sea routes, completing a full circumnavigation of the globe on May 20, 2023. 

Attending the event, the Commander of the Iranian Navy, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said that with pride and dignity, Iran's Navy has hoisted the country's flag in the oceans powerfully.

Admiral Irani further noted: "Me and my crew as Iran's representatives promise to defend and stabilize the county's maritime economy."

Also, as the other keynote speaker, the chief of the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature, and ex-Speaker of the Parliament Gholamali Haddad Adel stressed the boosting and expanding Iran's Navy power. He highlighted Iran's access to the sea from any point be it from North or South, and noted that the world's civilizations were shaped besides the seas. Reminding all how Iran's Islamic Revolution's Leader emphasis to expand, and should focus on sea development policy, he said: No civilization shaped but with its seas and oceans like Iran.

Still, Iran's Islamic Guidance and Culture Minister said that 8 months of non-stop seafaring and setting a unique record placed Iran's Navy at the top of the world's limited powers, and the Islamic Revolution made all the impossible possible.

Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaili said: "Most of the marine convoys had and continue to have problems with pirates, but Iran's maritime economy is secure with the support of its navy." 219
