Tehran (IP) - In a statement on Tuesday, Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering support for Lebanon as the country grapples with an unprecedented massacre by Israel.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking during an open session of the Iranian parliament, Ghalibaf condemned Israel’s recent massacre, describing them as "crimes against the Lebanese nation." He expressed solidarity with Lebanon, mourning the loss of lives caused by the "terrorist acts" of the Zionist regime.

Ghalibaf labeled Israel as the "most brutal criminal in the world" for genocide in Gaza, and denounced its targeting of civilians, particularly children. He went on to criticize the international response, particularly the United States, saying, “These criminals receive a standing ovation in the U.S. Congress, in front of the eyes of the world, mocking all human values.”

He vowed that the Zionist regime was "doomed to annihilation" and called on freedom-seekers around the world to rise against Israeli crimes in Gaza and Lebanon. He emphasized that justice would eventually be served to those responsible for these acts.

Ghalibaf's remarks came on the heels of another devastating day in Lebanon. According to a report by Al Jazeera on Tuesday, at least 492 people, including 35 children, were killed in a relentless barrage of Israeli airstrikes. More than 1,600 others were wounded in the attacks.

This violence follows a string of Israeli strikes last week, which reportedly targeted multiple areas in Lebanon, leaving thousands injured and a number of fatalities. The humanitarian crisis continues to deepen, with growing international calls for an end to the bloodshed.
