Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations says that Iran is ready to deal with urgent challenges and promote peace and security in the region.

Iran PressAmerica: Amir Saeid Iravani made the remarks at the UNSC meeting with the topic: "UN cooperation with regional and sub-regional organizations in maintaining peace and security: the role of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization against terrorist threats".

In this remark, Iravani added: "Considering Afghanistan's challenges, Iran believes that the enhanced collaboration between these institutions has a significant capacity to strengthen stability and development in Afghanistan".

"In a more complex global environment, maintaining international peace and security requires coordinated responses at the national, and international levels, and strengthening cooperation between the United Nations and regional institutions is more important than ever", he added.

Iravani reiterated that Iran considers the role of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and the Commonwealth of Independent States, very valuable in reinforcing the peace and security in the region and believes that the importance of multilateralism in dealing with global threats and challenges is very prominent.
