Kazakhstan (IP) - The 40th meeting of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held with the participation of a delegation from Iran.

Iran PressAsia: It was Iran's first presence at the meeting of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure since its membership in the international organization.

Representatives from 11 countries, including 9 member countries and 2 supervisors, participated in the meeting.

They discussed the latest issues related to terrorism, separationism, and extremism while condemning the Daesh (ISIS) attack on Shah Cheragh Shrine in Shiraz, southern Iran.

The continuation of the fight against Daesh and the need to focus on the situation in Afghanistan were two important issues, especially taken into consideration.

The efforts to fight terrorism and the figures who did self-sacrifice in this way, including Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, were commemorated at the meeting.

The council was chaired by Kazakhstan, and the next chairmanship will be conferred to China for next year.
