Tehran (IP) - The CEO of Iran Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) and Oman's Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) discussed the development of logistics cooperation and maritime trade, on Thursday.

Iran PressIran News: Ali Akbar Safaei, PMO's head pointed to the establishment of a regular container line between Bandar Abbas, in Hormozgan, and the ports of Oman, and considered the traffic of passenger ships between Oman and Chabahar as one of the most important issues of maritime cooperation between Tehran and Muscat.

For his part, the Omani minister Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali emphasized sea transportation development and inter-port investment, regular shipping lines and dry ports creation, and the establishment of trade in Central Asia through Iranian ports as his main goals in his trip to Tehran.

Emphasizing the implementation of the Ashgabat Agreement and trade with Central Asian countries as the most important strategies of the Omani government in regional maritime trade, Al-Maawali announced Omani private sector's readiness to invest in logistics and port areas in Iran.

According to the report, Al-Maawali and the delegation accompanying him visited the economic and commercial capacities of Hormozgan Province, including the Shahid Rajaei Port.

Describing Shahid Rajaei port as a well-equipped, and dynamic port, Al-Maawali called for the development of port cooperation and investments in Iran.
