Iran MFA says about US blacklist updates

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs published the updated blacklist of those American individuals having a role in the assassination of Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani.

Iran PressIran news: Releasing a statement on Saturday, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs added a number of other persons to the blacklist besides the former US President Donald Trump, the former Secretary of States Mike Pompeo, and former National Security Advisor John Bolton.

Implementing the 'Law on Combating US' Human Rights Violations, Adventurous, and Terrorist Acts in the Region', Iran added the names.

The names mentioned in the blacklist either got involved in decision-making, planning, organizing, funding, supporting, leading and implementing the assassination or promoted terrorism through supporting the crime.

Through its terrorist actions, the US government overtly violated the international commitments in the fight against terrorism and funding it, especially the organization of terrorist acts, as well as violation of commitments to respect and protect human rights.

General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) deputy head Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated along with their companions in a US drone strike authorized by former President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.

They were highly popular because of their key role in eliminating the US-backed ISIS terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

General Soleimani was assassinated by the US while he was in Baghdad at the official invitation of the Iraqi government.
