Iran, Iraq to expand bilateral cooperation in sports

Baghdad (IP) - Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi met with the Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports Adnan Dirjal on Sunday, referring to the position of national and international sports federations in shaping bilateral relations, especially the relations between nations.

Iran PressMiddle East: Masjedi said Iran's stadiums and sports venues are ready to admit Iraqi teams and to hold training camps and sports competitions in the conditions following the lifting of the coronavirus restrictions.

Approving Iran's capacities and facilities in the field of sports, the Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports also supported the participation of Iranian companies in the construction and equipping of the country's sports venues and said that a decision on the possibility of holding and continuing sports competitions at the national level will be made soon.

In the past month since the formation of the new Iraqi government, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Baghdad has met with the new Iraqi Prime Minister, as well as  Iraqi ministers of Interior, Defense, Transportation, Labor, and Social Affairs, Roads and Urban with the aim of strengthening and developing political, economic, cultural and social ties between the two countries.
