Iran Press/ Iran news: In a joint presser with his Iraqi counterpart, Fouad Hussein, on Thursday, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that during the talks with the Iraqi delegation, two sides agreed on the acceleration of the Shalamcheh-Basrah Railway project.
According to the agreement, Iran's Minister of Road and Urban Development, Rostam Ghasemi, will travel to Baghdad to operationalize the Shalamcheh-Basrah Railway project for commuting passengers and transiting goods.
Amir-Abdollahian said that the two countries have tight multilateral relations in any field and had many projects, one of which is producing 3000 megawatts of electricity in Basrah.
Iranian FM also underlined that Iran is fully ready to cancel the issuance of general visas. Iran and Iraq's ties are dynamic, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, noting that both countries had more than 4 million pilgrimage tourists.
Commemorating the second anniversary of Lt Gen. Qassem Soleimani's martyrdom, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said it was great to hear from Iraqi FM Fouad Hussein that the US forces were to withdraw from Iraq forever.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian recalled that no one could occupy Iraq.
The government of Iraq officially declared the end of the US-led International Coalition's presence on Iraqi soil.
Iraq's National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji declared on Thursday, November 12, the official end of the mission of international coalition forces led by the US in the country.
