Iran Press/America: On Iran's initiative, a meeting was held at the UN's Headquarters in the New York, US, with the participation of the representatives from 11 countries to celebrate the Nowruz international occasion.
The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was the attendee of the meeting among others.
At the meeting, Iran's representative Majid Takht-Ravanchi pointed to the crisis-hit world of today afflicted by unilateralism, extremism, and hostility calling on all to be inspired by Nowruz's messages of peace, friendship, solidarity, and empathy.
Nowruz has become the common language of many communities in different countries and across different ethnicities, promoting the high human values of peace, solidarity, empathy, and friendship, he said.
Nowruz is one of the most significant Iranian events celebrated worldwide by Iranians and some other ethnic-linguistic groups (Tajik, Turkish, Afghan, etc.) as the beginning of the Persian New Year, which is accompanied by special rituals.
Nowruz is a symbol of a value-oriented Persian civilization.
