Iran Press/Iran News: The Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mohammad Eslami, met on Monday with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Tehran.
Speaking to reporters on Monday after meeting Jaishankar, Mohammad Eslami Minister of Roads and Urban Development said: "The meeting was about the development of economic cooperation between Iran and India on the basis of agreements reached in the Joint Commission."
The 19th session of the Iran-India joint commission meeting was held on Sunday, under the chairmanship of Mohammad Javad Zarif and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

"We mainly discussed ways to shore up bilateral efforts in the transit sector focusing on the Chabahar Port as Iran's only oceanic port," he added.
Eslami added: "We have been following the development of Chabahar Port in the past few years. The volume of activities carried out at the Port has tripled since 2014, which should be increased further because Chabahar Port has a capacity of 11 million tons, and we are currently using only 20-25 percent of this capacity."
"We also discussed the India-Central Asia, and Russia-Central Asia relations," he said, adding: "We agreed on several issues with the Indian side and formed a specialized committee that could increase transit capacities."
Another important issue, according to the Iranian minister, was Afghanistan.
"A tripartite committee was formed in India last week to reduce Iran's tariffs and road freight and Indian shipping costs for Afghans and create an attraction for the use of Chabahar port," Eslami highlighted.
"We will achieve our goal of creating the North-South corridor focusing on Chabahar," the minister concluded.
