Iran's FM Spokesman confirms Zarif meeting with former US Governor
Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi confirmed William Blaine Richardson's meeting with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sideline of the UN General Assembly about the American prisoner.
Iran Press/ Iran news: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi announced on Friday that 'Bill Richardson' met with Mohammad Javad Zarif a few months ago about the release of "Michael White", an American citizen imprisoned in Iran.
Sayyed Abbas Mousavi also yesterday about the release of Michael Ray White said, "Michael White compensated the plaintiffs and was released with Islamic kindness and considering human rights considerations, and left Iran on Thursday."
Mousavi added, "Simultaneously with White's release, Dr. Majid Taheri, an Iranian scientist who was imprisoned in the United States for false reasons, was released too."
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman also noted that "after coronavirus spread, according to the order of the head of the Judiciary "Ebrahim Raisi", 'White' was given furlough, but as long as he had no one in Iran, he was handed over to the US interests section in Iran, the Embassy of Switzerland. As he had some symptoms of the virus, he was totally examined and after making sure that he was not sick, the freedom verdict was implemented."
An aide to Iran's Foreign Minister Mohsen Baharvand, previously said, "On the sideline of the General Assembly, Mr. Zarif raised the issue of the exchange of prisoners. Some, like Bill Richardson, talked to Dr. Zarif, but we didn't have a direct conversation with the US government."
