Zanjan (IP) - Zanjan’s old sugar factory in the heart of the traditional Bazaar of Zanjan city, north-west of Tehran, has been transformed into a garden museum of medicinal herbs and spices.

Iran Press/Iran news: The remaining buildings of the old sugar factory of Zanjan with an area of 700 square meters have been refurbished within two years by the private sector and the museum has been open to public visits for the past three months.

The building dates back to the Qajar era. The skeleton, columns and wooden roof of the building remain intact.

Zanjan's medicinal herbs and spices garden museum comprise of a main gallery, medicinal herbs pharmacy, a tea house, a laboratory, and a store selling drinking utensils.

In the museum section, which covers an area of one hundred and twenty square meters, over 130 species of medicinal plants, resins and saps are on public display.

The specialized laboratory also produces and packs pharmaceutical products, essential oils, and aromatic plant extracts.
