Coordinating meeting of ECO radio, television heads held in Tehran
Tehran (IP) - The coordinating meeting of the ECO radio and television heads' summit was held at Press TV's conference hall in Tehran.
Iran Press/Iran news: At the beginning of the meeting, the head of IRIB World Service, Peyman Jebelli welcomed the guests and expressed satisfaction about holding such meetings and hoped the meetings would continue in the future, Iran Press reported.
He further stressed that all organizations in the fields of diplomacy, media, and security have a common goal and that is to improve the situation in the region and the world.
Jebelli added: "In order to achieve our goal in the region, we have lots of challenges with our competitors and sanctions are the main ones."
Jebelli highlighted: "The purpose of the meeting is to boost cooperation among ECO member states since we have plenty in common, including common civilizations and languages."
Secretary-General of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Hadi Soleimanipour for his part said there are a lot of potentials that can be used to boost cooperation with ECO countries. The official added the way that you convey your message to the audience is very important. Soleimanipour suggested to invite countries like Malaysia as an observer country and emphasized that "You need to define this cooperation exactly and be clear about what you want."
Soleimanipour stated, "You need to register the idea of ECO radio and television in RPC (Regional Planning Council) in this case, we can help you more in holding the summit better."
Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri President of ECO Cultural Institute was one of the participants. He said various provinces had volunteered to host the summit, among them the city of Ramsar in Mazandaran province was chosen, adding: "We started a close cooperation with universities since the media and culture have a close relationship with one another."
The head of the Iran Press International News Agency Abbas Mohammadnejad also stated that January 18 & 19 are suggested for holding the summit. He meanwhile asked for attendants' opinions about the proposed date.
The summit was supposed to take place on November 2 and 3, 2019 in Ramsar, Mazandaran province, but it was postponed until January for various reasons.
Majid Bizmark Director-General of the Multilateral Economic Cooperation Ministry of Foreign Affairs Iran for his part said that ECO has high capacities. He emphasized regional cooperation as an important factor to mitigate the impact of sanctions.
On the other hand, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi who was present at the meeting thanked all those who had attended the meeting and drew attention to the close relationship between the Foreign Ministry and IRIB.
The meeting ended while the participants arranged another meeting to finalize their decisions. The attendants were also shown around the Press TV building, visiting different departments. 101/211/207
