Iran to boost tourism in region: Minister
Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Ali Asghar Mounesan has said Iran is aiming to develop its tourism industry, attracting tourists from the region and further afield.
Iran Press/Iran news: Mounesan speaking on the sideline of the cabinet meeting on Wednesday answered Iran Press correspondent about Iran-Oman Tourism Summit and said, "The policy of promoting tourism with regional countries is on our agenda. We are trying to boost tourism in the region, one of our target markets in Oman."
"Last year we also canceled visas for Omani tourists, where our tourism has grown substantially, especially in the field of health tourism with Oman," he added.
He also went on to say that we traveled to Oman and talked about facilitating tourism between the two countries. An agreement was signed between the two nations to promote tourism.
Mounesan continued: "The two sides agreed to do their best to clear the way for this goal. The cancellation of Oman visas for Iranian tourists was also one of the issues we discussed. Omani friends were supposed to work on this issue and help make it happen, or at least reduce the visa costs for Iranians, or bring it to zero."
