Tehran (IP) - Hosseini mourners on the day of Arbaeen in the Tehran marched from Imam Hossein SQ toward the mausoleum of Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (PBUH) south of the city to mark Arbaeen.

Iran Press/Iran news: While more than 3.5 million Iranians have participated in the annual Arbaeen march in the holy city of Karbala, Iranian people who couldn’t make the trip to the neighboring country of Iraq to observe Arbaeen pilgrimage gathered in the center of the capital to march toward Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (PBUH) to mark this religious commemoration.

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias march toward Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (PBUH) is located, to perform mourning rites marking Arbaeen, which is the 40th day after Ashura, the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his faithful companions in the 680AD Battle of Karbala.

Over 20 million pilgrims from around the world, including a record number of Iranians, have entered the holy Iraqi city of Karbala on the night before Arbaeen.

A total of 3.5 million Iranians had entered Iraq to take part in the ceremony, 1.2 million more than the number reported last year and topping previous participation records. 101/205
