Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh

The commander of the aerospace division of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has noted that the United States and other countries do not dare attack Iran, and that the US should watch its behaviour.

Iran Press/Iran news: Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the aerospace division of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) told reporters on Wednesday that spying by a US drone in Iranian airspace is a clear violation of international law.

Referring to the downed US drone, the IRGC General said: "A completely Iranian-made missile defence system, known as 'third of Khordad' shot down the American drone, and the Americans certainly  didn't expect a crushing response from Iran," Iran Press reported.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, 20 June, an American Global Hawk surveillance drone violated Iran's airspace near the Mobarak mountain in Hormozgan province (in southern Iran), and was targeted and shot down by a missile fired by the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).

After it came down in Iran's territorial waters, the Americans claimed their drone did not violate Iran's airspace and was targeted by IRGC over international waters of the Persian Gulf -- a claim categorically rejected by the IRGC. 101/211
