New York(IP): Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations slammed the US for vetoing a UN Security Council resolution on humanitarian pauses in the Gaza war, considering Washington responsible for the continued war crimes against Palestinians.

Iran PressAmerica: “Having once again vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for humanitarian assistance, the US bears the primary responsibility for the perpetuation of war crimes, transgressions, and genocide committed by the apartheid regime against Palestinians”, the Iranian mission said Wednesday on its official page on X, formerly Twitter, attaching to its post an image of US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The resolution, drafted by Brazil, called for pauses in the Gaza war to allow humanitarian aid access to the Gaza Strip, which has been the target of heavy Israeli bombardment since October 7 when resistance movement Hamas launched its unprecedented operation Al-Aqsa Storm in response to the Zionist regime’s escalating crimes in the Palestinian territories. The regime has also imposed a total blockade on the Gaza Strip, cutting off food, water, electricity and medicines.

Russia reacted to the US move to veto the resolution as well.

"We have just been witnesses once again of hypocrisy and the double standards of our American colleagues," said Russia's UN Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya, according to Reuters.

On Monday, a Russian-drafted resolution, which called for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, failed to pass at the UN Security Council.

The crimes of the Zionist regime reached their peak in recent days, on Tuesday (October 17) evening, and hundreds of Palestinians were targeted by the Zionists in Al-Mu'amdani Hospital in the center of the Gaza Strip.

In this crime, hundreds of innocent Palestinian people, many of whom were women and children, were martyred.

Before this crime and in the past days, the Zionists had martyred more than three thousand Palestinians.
