Iran Press/ Iran news: The event, attended by Bahram Einollahi, Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, Mohammad Mokhbar, First Vice President, and Ruhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi, Vice President for Science and Technology, shone a spotlight on 67 accomplished individuals acknowledged for their contributions.
This annual spectacle, held on Monday, serves multifaceted purposes, from identifying trailblazing researchers and technologists to commending solution-oriented inquiries. Notably, it serves as a crucible for unearthing the prodigious talents of budding researchers and students, fortifying the research fabric within the nation's medical sciences universities.
The Minister of Health highlighted the festival's growth, with a 45% surge in participation compared to the previous year, welcoming 804 eminent scientists this time around. A stark contrast to the 507 attendees from the preceding edition. Amidst the festivities, 67 individuals received well-deserved accolades for their invaluable contributions.
Addressing the audience, the Minister of Health proudly declared Iran's premier status in medical and health sciences within the region, announcing a global innovation index rank of 62 among 132 nations. Dehghani Firouzabadi echoed this sentiment, underscoring the triumphs in knowledge-based companies specializing in drug production, medical equipment, and raw materials.
Noteworthy strides in these domains have propelled Iran into the global spotlight.Yunus Panahi, the Deputy Minister of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Health, shared a compelling statistic:"The vibrant activity of 1,400 knowledge-based companies dedicated to health."
Emphasizing the Ministry of Health's commitment to a knowledge-based economy, he shed light on policies geared towards fostering the growth and prominence of such enterprises.Iran has made significant progress in the field of medicine over the years, particularly in the areas of manufacturing pharmaceuticals and medical equipment as well as training physicians and surgeons at state-of-the-art medical centers across the country.
The official added: "This progress was evident when Iranian scientists developed a number of vaccines for COVID-19 as well as other equipment such as ventilators and testing kits at the height of the pandemic amid restrictions on importing them from overseas."
