Iran Press/ Iran news: Criticizing EU's inability to honour its obligations under the JCPOA, in a meeting with visiting Dutch Foreign Minster Stef Blok, Hassan Rouhani said Iran has not shut the door to talks with Europe on the Nuclear Deal.
Iran's President also called US presence in the region and its regional approach as the source of regional insecurity, highlighting that the Iraqi parliament has voted for US forces' withdrawal from the Islamic country.
"The presence of the US troops in Syria is against the law and against the wishes of the Syrian government and in other countries too, like Afghanistan, the people are against the presence of US military forces in their country," stressed Rouhani.
"If the US stops its acts of terrorism as well as its unlawful interference, the region will naturally be a safer place to live," said Rouhani.
Rouhani went on to emphasize: "Our Foreign policy says regional security should be provided by the regional states themselves and we believe the presence of foreign military forces in the Persian Gulf region under the so-called names of various coalitions will not serve the regional interests when the security is involved."
Referring to the fact that Iran is ready to have a dialogue with the EU on regional developments, Rouhani said: "Since the Netherlands is hosting the world's top lawyers at the Hague, we can have a good dialogue on regional security based on logic and international law."
For his part, the Dutch foreign minister stressed deepening of economic ties between Iran and the Netherlands and expressed hoped that the Netherlands will be able to play a major role in activating INSTEX. Admitting that US withdrawal from JCPOA has not been the right thing to do, the Dutch foreign minister said dialogue and negotiations offered the best way of solving disputes and disagreements. 101/211/207
