Muscat (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister met and held talks with the chief negotiator of Yemen's National Salvation Government in Oman's capital on Tuesday.

Iran PressMiddle East: Amir-Abdollahian is in Oman to hold talks with his Omani counterpart and other senior officials of the country. A high-ranking delegation is accompanying the top Iranian diplomat on the visit to Muscat.

During the meeting at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Muscat, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Mohammed Abdulsalam reviewed the issues of bilateral interest, including the latest regional and international developments.

Amir-Abdollahian considered the breakthrough in the humanitarian case and the exchange of Yemeni prisoners as positive.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes any initiative, plan, and action that leads to the lifting of the blockade of Yemen and the establishment of a comprehensive ceasefire and reconciliation between Yemeni political groups," he reiterated.

For his part, Abdulsalam appreciated the humanitarian support of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Yemen, explaining the latest status of the negotiations with Saudi Arabia in Sana'a.

Pointing to the positive impact of the recent agreement between Riyadh and Tehran on the situation in the region, he added: "We will continue to resist and negotiate until an agreement is reached that guarantees the rights of all Yemeni people."
